CPG’s Mary Beth Sullivan listened to Campbell Harvey (Duke University) discuss the Economic and Financial Implications of the U.S. Election Results. One interesting takeaway: the fact that House stays Dem and Senate stays Rep means “split” government remains in place; markets like this as it reduces uncertainty/risk. The stock market rewards “do nothing” versus “do something damaging”. Dow up big today. Also means expect more of the same in Washington: not much getting done (except by DC’s Capital Performance Group team). Cam also sees inflation risk! We’ll be watching for it.
